Vol. 101 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Supply in Rathdowney.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he has received any representations concerning the water supply to the town of Rathdowney, Laoighis; whether any complaints have been made to his Department by either citizens of the town or the local authority; and if he will see that this town will be provided with a scheme which will supply its needs and give satisfaction in view of the fact that townspeople are frequently without water.

The water supply pipes at Rathdowney, which were laid 20 years ago, are heavily incrusted and are at present incapable of yielding a full supply. The incrustation has arisen from the hard quality of the water which has produced a lime deposit in the pipes. A proposal to have the pipes scraped and re-lined, if necessary, has been approved and it is understood that tenders for the carrying out of the work will be invited shortly.

That is good.
