Vol. 101 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural Statistics.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state when it is intended to publish a volume of agricultural statistics, for the years subsequent to 1933, containing reports and tables similar to those already published for the periods 1847 to 1926, and 1927 to 1933.

It is not possible at the present time to say how soon a further volume in the series on agricultural statistics will be ready for publication.

In connection with the second world census of agriculture due to have been taken in 1940, special inquiries were instituted in 1939 and a certain amount of material collected. The prosecution of these inquiries and the handling of the available material was interrupted during the war years. It is anticipated that during the next 12 months there will be opportunity for making further necessary inquiry, for evaluating the information obtained, and for compiling the statistics for publication, together with a review of the course of agriculture before and during the war years.
