Mr. Corish

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number of persons now in receipt of pensions or allowances on the grounds that they resigned or were dismissed from the Royal Irish Constabulary because of their national sympathies during the period 1916-1921, the average per head payment during the last financial year and the total sum paid during the last financial year.

Four hundred and eightythree persons who resigned or were dismissed from the Royal Irish Constabulary because of their national sympathies are at present in receipt of pensions. During the last financial year the average rate of pension was £105 18s. 0d. a year and the total payment in respect of such persons was £51,167.
