Vol. 101 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Brick Works.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the impending closing down of Ballinphelic Brick Works, County Cork, arising out of the sale of the works, and of the proposal to sell the plant as scrap; and if he will state what steps he proposes to take to maintain the industry and prevent the unemployment that will follow the closing of these works.

I understand that the Ballinphelic Brick Company, Limited, has recently gone into voluntary liquidation and has sold its plant. I am prepared to give sympathetic consideration to any reasonable proposals for maintaining this industry, but the matter is primarily one for private enterprise.
