Vol. 101 No. 18

Industrial Research and Standards Bill, 1946-First Stage.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to promote industrial research and the standardisation of commodities, processes and practices, and for these and other purposes to provide for the establishment and maintenance of an Institute for Industrial Research and Standards, and for other matters connected with the matters aforesaid.—(Minister for Industry and Commerce.)

This day week.

Has this Bill to be passed before the Recess?

It is desirable that it should be, and, if there is Dáil time available, having regard to the progress of other Bills, we will endeavour to get it passed. I do not think it will take a great deal of time in the Dáil, but, in view of the fact that the Dáil will necessarily have to meet to deal with other Bills, there is no reason why this Bill should not come up.

Second Stage ordered for Wednesday, 3rd July.
