Vol. 102 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Dockers' Dispute.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he was invited, during the week ending 13th July, 1946, to intercede in the Dublin dockers' dispute arising from the request of the dockers for a fortnight's holidays with pay; if he will state if he has had any communication from any of the shipping companies or workers' organisations involved; and if he will state the results of his intercession.

The first part of the question presumably refers to a telephone communication received in my Department from the Dublin port and Docks Board. I have not received any communication from the shipping companies or workers' organisations involved. A conference between the parties was held under the auspices of an officer of my Department on the 15th instant, but no settlement was arrived at. The conference will be resumed to-day.
