asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state, in respect of each county and county borough, the number of new houses completed up to 31st March 1946, under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Acts, 1932-46—(1) in urban areas (a) by local authorities, (b) by private persons, (c) by public utility societies, and (d) the total number of new houses so completed in urban areas; and (2) the number of new houses completed in rural areas by (a) local authorities, (b) private persons, (c) public utility societies, and (d) the total number of new houses so completed in rural areas; also the gross total of new houses so completed.

The following tables show the number of new houses completed up to 31st March, 1946, under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Acts, 1932/46, (1) in each urban area by (a) local authorities, (b) private persons and (c) public utility societies; (2) in each rural area by (a) local authorities, (b) private persons and (c) public utility societies; and (3) a summary of totals of new houses so completed.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state, in respect of the total number of new houses completed by the 31st March, 1946, under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Acts, 1932-46: (a) the number, (b) the total all-in cost, (c) the total building cost, and (d) the total amount of this cost which is being borne by the Exchequer, distinguishing between houses to which the terms of the following sections of the Principal Act are applied, viz.: Section 6 (1) (a) (i), Section 6 (1) (a) (ii), Section 6 (1) (b).
The following are the particulars:—(1) (a) The total number of houses completed by 31st March, 1946, under Section 6 (1) (a) (i) of the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932, was 21,153; (b) the total all-in cost of these houses was £10,052,146; (c) the total building cost of these houses was £8,557,045; and (d) the total amount of the all-in cost which is being borne by the Exchequer is £5,073,212.
(2) (a) The total number of houses completed by 31st March, 1946, under Section 6 (1) (a) (ii) of the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932, was 10,463; (b) the total all-in cost of these houses was £4,705,541; (c) the total building cost of these houses was £3,800,249; and (d) the total amount of the all-in cost which is being borne by the Exchequer is £1,415,142.
(3) (a) The total number of the houses completed by 31st March, 1946, under Section 6 (1) (b) of the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932, was 20,718; (b) the total all-in cost of these houses was £6,536,971; (c) the total building cost of these houses was £5,556,336; and (d) the total amount of the all-in cost which is being borne by the Exchequer is £3,634,336.
In addition to the above local authorities in urban areas erected 374 houses which did not qualify for any State subsidy. Adjustments in the figures may be necessary where rates of contribution to annual loan charges have not been finally determined or where costs of houses have been calculated before the entire schemes in which houses have been included were finally completed.
