Vol. 103 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wheat Supplies.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether the supplies of wheat, available or anticipated, will be sufficient to permit of an improvement in the quality of the bakers' bread at present being sold to citizens of Dublin.

The wheat supply position does not at present permit of any alteration in the regulations governing the production of flour, and I am not in a position to say when any alteration will be possible.

Does the Minister hold out any promise of an improvement in the quality of bread, having regard to the injury that it is causing children?

I have just informed the Deputy that I am not in a position to say that any alteration will be possible.

Could the Minister not ask for an improvement in the lesser quantity, so as to give a better quality?
