Vol. 103 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Export of Violets.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that over a number of years a small but remunerative industry in the growing of violets, mainly for export, has been built up at Glandore, County Cork; if he is also aware that, for a considerable time past, export facilities have not been available to this industry; and if he will now take up, with the appropriate authorities in Great Britain, the question of the restoration of these export facilities.

I am aware that there are restrictions on the importation into Great Britain of certain nursery products, including violets. I have had the situation under review from time to time and representations have again been recently made in the matter. I will inform the Deputy in due course as to the result of these representations.
