Vol. 103 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Evictions.

asked the Minister for Justice if he has received an application from the members of the Dublin Municipal Council asking him to meet a deputation with reference to the number of evictions in Dublin; and if he proposes to accede to the request.

Mr. Boland

On Tuesday the 5th instant, I received a formal request from the Dublin Corporation that I should receive a deputation in connection with the matters mentioned by the Deputy. A few days previously a communication had been received in the Department of Justice from the Law Agent of the corporation suggesting that legislation on certain lines should be introduced. I am having the proposal put forward by the Law Agent on behalf of the corporation carefully examined but a decision has not yet been reached. As soon as a decision is reached—which, I expect, will be very soon—I shall have it communicated to the corporation. In the meantime I do not see that there would be any point in receiving the proposed deputation as all the necessary information in the matter seems to have been placed at my disposal by the Law Agent.
