Vol. 103 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Land Commission intend to stripe the Hassard Estate, situated at Bunalty, Glenamoy; if he is aware that some of those holdings are comprised of 29 different patches, and that some of the tenants there are living in wretched houses; and if he will state when the Land Commission intend to give substantial housing grants in respect of this and other estates in North Mayo.

Mr. Boland

The necessity for a scheme of rearrangement on the Hassard Estate, Record No. S. 4998, due to the rundale nature of the holdings has been noted for investigation, but the Land Commission are not yet in a position to state when the matter can be dealt with. The question of housing assistance for the tenants on this estate and on other estates in North Mayo will be investigated in conjunction with any rearrangement schemes being prepared.
