Vol. 103 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of Galway Farm.

asked the Minister for Lands if Michael Brannick sought and got permission from the Irish Land Commission to sell his holding of land at Kilclooney, County Galway (Record No. U. 4011); and, further, whether the Land Commission will consider withdrawing such sanction and dividing the said land among the tenants in this very congested area.

Mr. Boland

Michael Brannick has not sought the permission of the Land Commission to sell his holding at Kilclooney. The Land Commission have considered the question of the acquisition of the lands and have decided not to proceed.

The Land Commission have decided not to proceed, and that is that. Therefore he is entitled to sell.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission have made any progress towards the acquisition of the untenanted lands of Mr. Brannick, at Kilclooney, County Galway (U.4011), since his statement on the 21st March, 1946; and, further, if he is aware of any efforts being made by the owner to sell those lands.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission have considered the question of the acquisition of Mr. Brannick's land at Kilclooney, County Galway, and have decided not to proceed.

I wonder if the Minister could state if any efforts have been made by other people to get the Land Commission to acquire this land and hand it over to them; and, further, will the Minister give me the names of such applicants?

Surely that is a separate question.
