Vol. 103 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tillage Order Exemptions.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if all lands in low-lying areas, subject to and likely to be flooded, will be declared non-arable and be exempted from the provisions of the 1947 tillage Order.

My information is that farmers have not, except in a very small number of cases, been involved in any serious loss through flooding of crops sown to comply with the tillage requirements. These cases are being specially investigated with a view to determining the appropriate tillage obligations for 1947.
