N.B.—The numbers shown above exclude officers on loan to other offices but include officers on loan to the Department.

The numbers exclude also officers appointed specifically for work in connection with the administration of the Tuberculosis (Establishment of Sanatoria) Act, 1945. The remuneration of such officers is paid directly from the Hospitals Trust Fund. A separate statement showing the number of these officers employed on 1st January, 1946, is attached.

Figures for the staffs of the National Health Insurance and Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Branches, the General Register Office, and Dundrum Asylum, are shown separately.
