Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Milk in Dublin.

Mr. O'Sullivan

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state, in respect of milk sold loose in dairy shops in Dublin during the winter months of 1946/47: (a) the price paid to producers; (b) the wholesale price; and (c) the retail price.

(a) The prescribed minimum prices payable to producers for milk sold by them to wholesalers in the Dublin district during the period 1st October, 1946, to 30th April, 1947, range from 2/- to 1/10 per gallon according as the milk is delivered at the purchaser's premises or at specified distances up to 40 miles from these premises. The minimum prices payable to producers for milk sold to retailers are in all cases 1½d. per gallon more than for milk sold to wholesalers.

(b) The prescribed maximum price at which loose milk (other than highest grade milk) may be sold to retailers in the Dublin district during the period in question is 2/2½d. per gallon.

(c) The prescribed maximum retail price for loose milk (other than highest grade milk) sold in the Dublin district during the same period is 4d. or 4½d. per pint according as delivery is taken at the vendor's premises or elsewhere.
