Vol. 104 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dismissal of Timekeeper.

asked the Minister for Finance why and when Mr. Purcell, timekeeper and clerk at Whitefields, was dismissed and deprived of his tenancy of Bessboro' Lodge, Ashtown.

Mr. Purcell was dismissed with effect from the 8th August, 1945, for just and valid reasons and, in consequence, was obliged to vacate the lodge, which formed part of the emoluments of his post.

What about the reasons as to why Mr. Purcell was dismissed?

In the interest of the party concerned, the Deputy ought not to press the question.

I do not know the man at all.

If the Deputy presses the question, I shall give him the answer, but he will not be too grateful to me.

It is a matter of complete indifference to me. I never heard of the man until this matter was drawn to my attention. I do not know who he is.

If the Deputy presses for an answer, he will not be too grateful when he gets it.
