Vol. 104 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reciprocal Unemployment Insurance Benefits.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state from what date Irish citizens, who served in the British Army, and who have returned to Ireland, may expect to become entitled to unemployment insurance benefits under the reciprocal arrangements with Great Britain; and if he will also state the date on which citizens of Éire who followed civilian employment in Great Britain will become entitled to such benefits.

The provisions of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1946, relating to the payment, during unemployment in this country, of special benefit to certain discharged members of the forces of the United Kingdom will be brought into operation at an early date. In regard to the second part of the question, I would refer the Deputy to the answer given on the 28th January last to his previous question on the same subject.
