asked the Minister for Justice when he intends to introduce proposals for the amendment of the law of torts along the lines of the Law of Torts (Miscellaneous Reforms) Bill, 1941.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Law of Torts.
Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach and to the Minister for Defence (Mr. Kissane) (for Minister for Justice)
Two Bills—the Tortfeasors Bill and Married Women's Status Bill —dealing, inter alia, with the matters dealt with in the Law of Torts (Miscellaneous Reforms) Bill, 1941, but drafted on more comprehensive lines, were prepared some time ago. The proposals in those Bills belong to that particular category of reforms that might, appropriately and with advantage, be examined and reported upon in the first instance by a committee of experts on law reform. As proposals for the establishment of such a committee are under active consideration, the introduction of the two Bills has been deferred for the present in order that they may be referred to the Law Reform Committee as soon as it is set up.
