Vol. 104 No. 13

Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Bill, 1947—First Stage.

I move that leave be granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to re-enact certain amendments of the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Acts, 1935 to 1940, effected by the Emergency Powers (No. 381) Order, 1946, and otherwise to amend the said Acts.

Question put and agreed to.

When is it proposed to take the Second Stage?

The Bill deals with a number of small points, such as raising the limit of insurability, and it is very important to get it through before the end of the financial year. I would therefore suggest that the Second Reading be taken on Friday next.

Second Stage ordered for Friday, the 14th March, 1947.
