Vol. 104 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Import of Wire Nails.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state why merchants have been refused licences to import wire nails free of duty; and if he is aware that those merchants had previously been informed, by Irish Wire Products, Limited, that they are unable to supply nails owing to the scarcity of raw materials.

Licences have been refused for the duty free importation of wire nails for the reason that adequate supplies of home-produced wire nails are available for distribution to the trade through the regular customers of the home manufacturers.
