Written Answers. - Loans for Boats.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state: (1) the total amount of loans in respect of boats, gear, etc., due in West Cork before the Act of 1931; (2) the amount of such loans remitted under that Act; (3) the amounts paid since the passing of that Act; (4) the amount wiped off as irrecoverable; (5) the amounts due at present date, and (6) if such amounts are believed to be recoverable.

With your permission, a Chinn Comhairle, I propose to have circulated with the Official Report the information required by the Deputy, which is in the form of a tabular statement.

The statement is as follows:—

Total amount collected since July, 1931 in cash from the borrowers concerned together with value of boats taken up on surrender or under mortgage

Total amount now outstanding virtually all of which is irrecoverable
