Vol. 104 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wages of Curragh Camp Employees.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he has received representations from the Workers' Union of Ireland on the question of granting increased wages to certain employees on the Curragh Camp; whether the representations have been considered; and if he will state what decision has been arrived at in the matter.

I have received representations on the question of granting increased wages to certain employees at the Curragh Camp. The position as regards those employed in the building trade has been under consideration in my Department and it is hoped that a satisfactory decision will be arrived at in the very near future. The question of granting increases to the classes not included in the building trades group is at present under examination.

In view of the fact that representations were made on behalf of these workers as long ago as December 16th, is the Minister not in a position to indicate when a decision is likely to be arrived at?

I stated that it would be in the very near future. I cannot say anything further than that.
