asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the number of unemployment insurance stamps sold, in each of the last five insurance years, distinguishing between stamps sold in respect of men, women, boys and girls.
Written Answers. - Sales of Insurance Stamps.
The accountancy arrangements for the purpose of the unemployment fund provide for records of the total amounts received for the sale of unemployment insurance stamps without distinguishing the amounts received for the sale of stamps appropriate to men, women, boys and girls. The best information of the type the Deputy requires are estimates of the weekly average number of contributions appropriate to males and females paid in certain calendar years. These estimates for the years 1942, 1943 and 1944 have been published in table 114, page 144 of the Statistical Abstract, 1945. The estimated weekly average numbers of unemployment insurance contributions paid in the years 1945 and 1946 are as follows:—
Year |
Males |
Females |
1945 |
180,300 |
80,500 |
