Vol. 105 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flooding in Tipperary.

asked the Minister for Finance what steps he proposes to take to remedy the serious flooding which occurs on the River Suir between Loughmore and Thurles; if he is aware that the dredging of this portion of the river, carried out in 1921, was successful for a time in relieving the flooding; and whether, in view of the serious losses suffered by riparian owners of lands in this area, he will have the river dredged again in the immediate future.

The drainage of the area between Loughmore and Thurles will be considered when the Suir catchment, of which it forms part, is being dealt with under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945. The Suir catchment is unlikely to be reached at an early stage of the arterial drainage programme.
