Vol. 105 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Calling up Reserve.

asked the Minister for Defence if, in view of the shortage of labour in the country and the necessity for the maximum food and fuel production this year, he will defer calling up the Reserve.

Arrangements have already been made and reservists notified that annual training will be carried out during the months of May, June, July and October. Arrangements have also been made to facilitate those reservists who find it inconvenient to undergo training with their units in May, June, and July by providing that such reservists can report in October when most harvesting operations are completed.

In view of the arrangements made I do not consider it necessary to defer calling up the Reserve this year.
