Vol. 106 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Soldiers' Dependents—Free Medical Attendance.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state whether the wives and children of serving soldiers are entitled to free medical attendance from Army medical personnel.

The wives and children of serving soldiers are not entitled to free medical attendance from Army medical personnel. Provision is made, however, for the treatment at the expense of the Army Vote of soldiers' dependents as intern or extern patients in the families' section of the Curragh Military Hospital and in approved civil hospitals throughout the country. Officers of the Army medical service attend the dependents of soldiers residing in barracks where a medical officer is stationed, if requested to do so.
