Vol. 106 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fuel Supply.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the unsatisfactory distribution of fuel for domestic consumers in the Kimmage-Harold's Cross area; and if so, if he will establish a fuel depôt there.

The unsatisfactory position in regard to domestic fuel supplies for some time past has been general and not confined to the Kimmage-Harold's Cross area. The primary problem at present is one of supply, not distribution, and it cannot be solved by increasing the number of licensed fuel merchants. In any event, the depôts which the Deputy has in mind are operated by private traders in premises erected by the corporation and are not established by me. As I have already indicated, I am having consideration given to the revision of the present methods of turf distribution and sale throughout the non-turf area.
