Vol. 106 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Workers' Wages (Carlow).

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the Carlow County Council have adopted the practice of cutting road workers' wages on account of time lost owing to wet weather; and if he will state whether this is done by his order or with his approval.

I am not aware that Carlow County Council has made any change in their practice in regard to the payment of road workers. I am informed it never has been the practice to pay for periods during which work ceased owing to wet weather. I have recently addressed a circular letter to county councils advocating the issue of protective clothing to road and quarry workers.
