Vol. 106 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Exports of Meat as Gifts.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state the total quantity of meat exported from this country to Great Britain, as gifts, in the year 1946 and in the first three months of the present year; and further, if he will indicate the value of such exports.

The quantity of meat sent by way of gift to Great Britain by parcel post during the year 1946 is estimated at 1,709 tons and in the first quarter of the present year 605 tons. I have no information as to the value of the meat thus exported.

Will the Minister say that there will be a reduction in the price of meat now that these exports have ceased?

That is a matter for another Department.
