Vol. 107 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what steps the Irish Land Commission have taken to acquire the farm of John Kennedy, Gortskehy, Scardaune, Claremorris, County Mayo; and if there is any possibility of its being taken over before November, 1947.

Proceedings have been instituted by the Land Commission for the resumption of the holding of John Kennedy in the townland of Gortskehy on the estate of Gilmartin, Record No. S.6513, County Mayo. At this stage it is not possible to say whether the lands will become available for division.

Is the Minister aware that this land was sold about four months ago to another individual and will he allow such sales to take place? If such sale takes place this other man will have the land and it will not be made available for distribution.

If the land has been sold it would be impossible for the Land Commission to interfere in free sale.

Hear, hear. More power to you.
