Vol. 107 No. 7

Agricultural and Fisheries Products (Regulation of Export) Bill, 1947.

I propose to ask the Dáil to agree with the amendment inserted by the Seanad.

What does it mean?

It increases the maximum penalty from £10 to £100.

For what offence?

Telling untruths to the Department for the purpose of getting certain licences—making false statements and giving false evidence.

I do not know whether it is false evidence, false statements, false oaths or false allegations.

You can throw them all together and say it is all combined.

I will do nothing of the kind. We will get down to this business now.

On a point of order, are we taking this matter now or does the Minister propose to indicate the time at which he will take it? I take it he is merely indicating to the House that he proposes to accept the amendment?

That is right.

If Deputies have not had an opportunity of relating the amendment to the Bill, perhaps the Minister would put it down for a later time this evening.

Tá go maith.

To-morrow.

Some people must learn that a soft answer turneth away wrath.

The Deputy is supposed to know these things before he comes into the House.

Ordered: That the Bill be taken to-morrow.
