Vol. 107 No. 8

Public Libraries Bill, 1947—First Stage.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to establish a body to be called An Chomhairle Leabharlanna for the purposes of accepting from the Carnegie Trust the gift of the Irish Central Library for Students, of operating a central library and of assisting local authorities to improve their library services, and to provide for other matters connected with the matters aforesaid.—(Minister for Local Government.)
Second Stage fixed for Wednesday, 8th October.

This Bill will probably be circulated early in September. There are some consultations to take place and I could not promise a definite date.
