asked the Minister for Local Government if, with reference to his announcement on the 2nd September that there is at present a housing programme of 50,000 houses, 16,000 being for rural areas, he will state, in respect of each county borough, borough, urban district and county health district, the number of houses for which provision is intended in such programme.

As stated when introducing the Estimates for the Department on 29th May last, the housing survey disclosed that about 61,000 new dwellings are needed to provide for working people (vol. 106, col. 913). The actual number was 60,848 distributed as follows:—
