Vol. 108 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Castleknock Amenities.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether the lack of sewerage facilities and of a fresh water supply in the village of Castleknock has been brought to his notice; and if any improvement will be undertaken this year by the Dublin County Council.

The preparation of a water supply scheme for a region which will include Castleknock is at present being considered by the Commissioner for the Dublin County Council and the preliminary report of the consulting engineer has been received. It is intended to obtain water from the Dublin Corporation, and negotiations are proceeding between the county council and the corporation. I am not in a position to indicate when work on the scheme will commence.

Plans are in course of preparation for a sewerage scheme for Castleknock and Blanchardstown. This scheme cannot be put in hands until there is an adequate water supply in the area.
