Vol. 108 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Doctor's Residence (Mayo).

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware that the doctor for Knocknalower area, in the Belmullet district, resides about 20 miles from most of his district, and six miles from the nearest point of his district; and if he will take steps to see that a new doctor's residence is erected, in some convenient place in the centre of this district, so that the doctor would be available for urgent calls.

I am aware that the dispensary medical officer of the Knocknalower Dispensary District does not reside in his district. The provision of a residence for him is primarily a matter for the local authority. This matter is being considered in connection with the survey of dispensary districts which is in progress.
