Vol. 108 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Increases for Leix Officials.

asked the Minister for Health if he has received proposals from the Leix County Manager for increases in the salaries of certain officials and workers attached to the county institutions, dispensary midwives and others; and if he will approve of same as soon as possible.

A general approval was issued by a circular of 8th August, 1947, for the revision of remuneration of officers and employees of public assistance authorities. The circular specified salary scales for general application so that uniform practice might obtain throughout the country. Since the issue of the circular a number of proposals have been received from the Laoighis County Council involving deviation from the terms of the circular. These are being examined as expeditiously as possible.

Would it be possible for the Minister to undertake to see that the decision on these proposals will be communicated as soon as possible to the county manager, as all these employees are lowly paid?

Yes, they will all receive consideration.
