Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Castlerea Land Commission Office.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state, in respect of the Land Commission office in Castlerea: (a) the total number of persons employed, with the grade of each person; (b) the salary paid to each person; and (c) the total cost of the office.

There are only two persons employed exclusively in the Land Commission office in Castlerea: a writing assistant and a cleaner, who are paid at the usual rates for these classes. The writing assistant's present rate of pay is £244 19s. 4d. per annum, and that of the cleaner is £73 16s. 0d. per annum.

Six inspectors (one Grade I, three Grade II and two Grade III) are headquartered in Castlerea, and they with six other inspectors headquartered elsewhere but operating in the Roscommon-North East Galway area under the Inspector Grade I, and four supervising gangers, utilise the machinery of the Castlerea office for official purposes. The scales of pay appropriate to the inspectorate grades are shown in the published Estimates Volume. The total current rate of expenditure in respect of the salaries of the 16 officers referred to is £8,533 12s. 0d.
