Vol. 108 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Donegal Homespuns.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware of the discrepancy between the price paid to the producer of Donegal homespuns by Gaeltarra Éireann and that charged to the customer in the shops; and if he will inquire into the profit margins prevailing in those transactions, with a view to safeguarding the interests of the Gaeltacht workers, who feel that their cottage industry is being exploited.

Mr. Boland

The maximum prices which shopkeepers may charge for homespuns marketed by Gaeltarra Éireann are determined in consultation with the Department of Industry and Commerce, and I am not aware that these prices are being exceeded.
