Vol. 108 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wexford Sewerage Scheme.

Mr. Corish

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received proposals from Wexford County Council regarding the provision of a sewerage scheme and water supply for Taghmon, County Wexford; and if so, whether he intends to sanction such proposals at an early date.

The answer to the first part of the question so far as it relates to a water supply scheme is in the affirmative. Gaugings of the proposed source were continued after the receipt of the proposals and it was established that the supply therefrom would be inadequate to meet anticipated demands. The possibility of including Taghmon in a comprehensive regional water supply scheme is, I understand, under consideration.

The provision of sewerage facilities cannot be considered until a water supply system is available.
