Vol. 108 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Tax on Hackney Vehicles.

asked the Minister for Finance whether, having regard to the hardships suffered by hackney car owners, arising from the scarcity of petrol and competition from Córas Iompair Éireann in many areas, it is proposed to impose any additional road-tax on their vehicles.

It is not intended to increase the road-tax on hackneys or taxis. This will be made clear in the section of the coming Finance Bill which will deal with the increased taxes on private motor vehicles.
