Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reduction of Military Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state, in respect of each county and county borough, the number of cases in which an allowance granted, under the Military Service Pensions Acts, has been reduced by reason of the granting, this year, of the additional allowance of 2/6 a week to old age pensioners; and the estimated total amount of these reductions in the year ended 31st March, 1948.

The number of cases in which allowances granted under the Army Pensions Acts have been reduced consequent on the payment of cash supplements to old age pensioners is as follows:—

County Borough of Dublin, 3; County Borough of Cork, 1; County Kerry, 11; County Limerick, 2; County Clare, 2; and 1 case each in Counties Galway, Leitrim, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath and Wexford.

The estimated total amount of these reductions in the year ended the 31st March, 1948, is £90.
