Vol. 108 No. 5

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 1, 2, 8 and 9. In Private Deputies' time, Motion No. 1 on List 14 will be taken.

When is it proposed to take No. 10?

Next week.

Will the Tánaiste say why we are not taking the financial motions to-day?

It was thought that Deputies would require longer time to consider them.

Two or three months ago the Minister made an Order increasing the duty on hats to 75 per cent. with a preferential rate of 50 per cent. I put down a motion proposing to rescind that Order. I understand an undertaking was given by the Government when the Emergency (Imposition of Duties) Act was passed by the House that, if an Order imposed under that Act was challenged by resolution of the House, an early opportunity would be vouchsafed for discussing the motion and challenging the Order. Will the Tánaiste indicate when it is proposed to provide time for a discussion on the motion standing in my name?

It has not been considered. It will be considered.

Surely I have rights in this matter. The Minister must have considered it since Parliament reassembled.

I have told the Deputy that the matter has not been considered. I cannot answer the question. Attention will be given to the matter since it has been raised.
