Vol. 108 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Skibbereen-Baltimore Transport Service.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state if the decision to close the Skibbereen-Baltimore branch railway service for passenger traffic is now final; and if so, if he will consider directing Córas Iompair Éireann to arrange that, when bus services restart, they should provide a supplementary bus service between Baltimore and Skibbereen to link up with the rail and bus services from that town.

This branch railway line is temporarily closed under Emergency Powers (Córas Iompair Éireann) (Reduction of Railway Services) Order, 1944. I have not received an application for an Order authorising the permanent discontinuance of train services on the line. An application for such Order must include proposals for the provision of alternative road transport facilities.
