asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, in view of the reorganisation of transport in Northern Ireland indicated in a White Paper issued by the Government of Northern Ireland in 1946, the Great Northern Railway Company's system will be severed and the portion of its rail and road services within this State be transferred to Córas Iompair Éireann or function as an independent unit; and if he will state what is the policy of the Government regarding this railway.

I refer the Deputy to a reply to a similar question on 13th November, 1946. The White Paper to which the Deputy refers recommended a merger of transport undertakings in the Six Counties including the Great Northern Railway system there. It does not contain any detailed proposals in this regard.
