Vol. 108 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Northern Railways.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether the railway line from Dundalk to Greenore, County Louth, now owned by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Company, will pass to the ownership of the British Transport Board when the nationalisation of transport in Great Britain becomes effective; and if he will state whether it is proposed to introduce proposals for legislation to facilitate the British Transport Board in assuming control of this line, as well as of the light railways in County Donegal at present jointly owned by the Great Northern Railway Company and the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Company.

I have no information as to how the British plans for the nationalisation of transport will affect the railway line in question. No representations have been made to me for the introduction of legislation here in respect of this line or the other railways referred to by the Deputy.
