asked the Minister for Health if he will state on what grounds he refused to sanction the recommendations of the Cork County Tuberculosis Committee, under the domiciliary welfare scheme, for the provision of increased nourishment for persons discharged from tuberculosis institutions in Cork County.

The proposals of the Cork County Tuberculosis Committee for the provision of increased nourishment to persons discharged form tuberculosis institutions were not approved because the allowances recommended by the committee were much in excess of those normally allowed under the domiciliary welfare scheme, which, I am advised, are generally adequate. Further representations on this matter received recently from the committee are being given consideration in my Department.
