Vol. 108 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - 1916 Medals.

Mr. Corish

asked the Minister for Defence if 1916 medals have been awarded to any persons who had not received military pensions for the period; and, if so, if he will state in respect of the 3rd Battalion, North Wexford Brigade, the names of such persons.

1916 medals have been awarded to persons who have not received military service pensions for the period, as it was certified that their service for the period in question would have justified the award of a pension if they had made application under the Military Service Pensions Acts within the prescribed time limit.

There is no record in my Department of a member of the 3rd Battalion, North Wexford Brigade, who having been awarded a 1916 medal was not also awarded a military service pension.
