Vol. 108 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kilkenny Post Office.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will now state what he proposes to do to modernise the Kilkenny City Post Office premises so as to remedy the congestion and delays caused by the present unsatisfactory facilities there; and if he will indicate when it is likely that the necessary improvements will be put in hands.

Preliminary steps, including the acquisition of adequate additional ground, have already been taken for the general improvement of all sections of the Kilkenny Post Office premises, where it is also proposed to install an automatic telephone exchange. I am not, however, in a position to forecast a date for the commencement of the works, but the matter will be expedited as much as possible. The Deputy will appreciate the magnitude of the Government building programme and that delay in the carrying out of particular projects is inevitable.
