Vol. 108 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural Machinery Imports.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state, as a result of recent trade agreement, the numbers, classifications and countries of origin of the various items of agricultural machinery to be imported during the coming months, showing the approximate increases over the amounts imported last year.

It is not possible to give the details asked for by the Deputy.

Representations in regard to our requirements of agricultural machinery were made to the British authorities during the recent trade discussions and, as already announced, it is expected that improved supplies of a number of items will be received from Great Britain. This applies to tractors, threshers, harrows, corn drills, rakes, potato sprayers and spare parts. We may have to get additional supplies of certain machines, e.g., reapers and binders, mowers, and disc harrows, from other sources.
