Vol. 108 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Imported Wheat.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state: (i) the cost of wheat imported for consumption, during the cereal year ended 31st August, 1947; (ii) the cost of wheat, landed here, imported since 1st September, 1947; and (iii) the cost or probable cost of the wheat booked for the remainder of the current cereal year.

The cost of wheat imported for consumption, during the cereal year ended 31st August, 1947, was £3,199,485. The cost of wheat, landed here, imported since 1st September, 1947, was £973,594 and the estimated landed cost of wheat so far booked for shipment during the remainder of the present cereal year is £1,450,000.

Can the Minister tell us the price per barrel imported?

The Deputy should give notice of that question.
